Satellite TV for the booster-seat set

- There may be only three channels — but at least they're always on. Chrysler and Sirius Satellite Radio's Backseat TV will hook up the backseat crew in the automaker's 2008 Town and Country and in Dodge Grand Caravan minivans (for starters anyway). The service offers three channels of kid-appropriate satellite television fare from names like Nickelodeon, Disney Channel and Cartoon Network.
- Grownups will be able to tune out the toons. The system allows front-seat passengers to listen simultaneously to the satellite radio channel of their choice.
- We first covered in-car satellite TV in 2004. KVH's TracVision A5 dish with DIRECTV went for $2,300 plus $40 per month for the shows. Chrysler will offer Backseat TV for $470, and the content is a $7-per-month add-on to consumers' satellite radio subscription (for a grand total of $20 per month). Sorry, early adopters.
